In case you don’t already know, if there’s one thing I LOVE to do it’s trip planning! Last month I went to Miami for the first time in years and let me tell you, there are a few things you will NOT want to miss on your next trip down south!

First thing’s first, I started off researching some spots that were must-sees and places that were HGHLY recommended to stop in for a bite to eat. I always try to find places that are slightly less tourist-y, but still super unique and almost guaranteed to be a good time.

The Wynwood Walls were one of our first stops and if you’ve never been there I would HIGHLY suggest that you at least try to swing by on your trip. The murals are gorgeous and there’s so many cute boutiques, coffee shops and all sorts of little places around the area too, which makes this a perfect spot to hit when you have a few hours to explore without being pressed for time.

Apart from Wynwood, I also discovered that Miami was home to the World Erotic Museum. This was such a fascinating place and truly one of a kind that we HAD to see what it was all about. It covers all sorts of topics in terms of humanity and our evolution of sexuality and even has art from some of the most famous artists I know including Picasso, Rembrandt and Miro.

There’s also a spot called the Miami Marine Stadium which is currently abandoned, but if you’re looking to take some amazing photos while you’re in town this is a really cool spot to do so - the urban background of the stadium which is covered in graffiti serves as a photo hotspot for tourists and locals alike.

As far as food goes, I had a few places that had been recommended to me, but we ended up settling on doing some Cuban sandwich taste-testing at Versailles in little Havana. Versailles is the most popular Cuban restaurant in the Miami area and has been a staple of the community since 1971.Their cuban was delicious, but I have to say, it still doesn’t hold a candle to the Cuban from Tampa’s West Tampa Sandwich Shop!

We also popped in to check out the Broken Shaker, which is an iconic Miami bar and restaurant that has a GORGEOUS outdoor sitting area and some of the best cocktails you can find around town. In terms of nightlife and bars, we were told that Area 31’s rooftop bar, Floyd (a luxe speakeasy), and Club Space were the places to be on a Friday and Saturday night.

One of my top favorite experiences though was the ArtecHouse. This is an indoor art exhibit that is fully immersive, interactive and targets your senses. So for instance, one room might have crazy visuals and surround sound to make you feel as though you’ve been transported to another planet and another room had drums where, when struck, lights of all different colors would light up and trigger different sounds.

All in all we had an absolute blast exploring the city and we can’t wait to go back and check out the rest of the things we missed! Below is a list of Miami favorites that we fit into our 48-hour trip. As always, safe travels and have fun!
