behind the scenes at Miami’s world erotic museum

The World Erotic Museum is not only a museum, but also a library and education think tank that has a goal of educating the public of the world’s history in erotic art.

I was honestly surprised when I saw some MAJOR famous artists names on these works like Picasso, Rembrandt and Miro.

I DID try to pick the least graphic artworks, but I will say, this place leaves NO stone unturned!

Walking through this museum you’ll definitely hear a few chuckles and nervous laughs, but it was really cool to see that the museum had an entire section dedicated to educating the public about important topics like the evolution of gender diversity, the role trauma and resilience plays in human sexuality, and how although many of these works were created centuries ago, the acceptance of openly talking about and displaying sexuality in general is still a relatively recent development.

For example, take the early 1900’s to now - back then, women could barely show their ankles, let alone let anyone know that they’re human and feel natural sexual impulses.

As far as I’m concerned, this museum, while quite ‘eye-opening’ pays homage to how far we’ve developed as a society in terms of being comfortable in our own skin and accepting that sexuality in all genders is natural and shouldn’t be hidden away from oneself or from the public eye.

So all in all, I thought the process of walking through time, seeing how portrayals of sexuality developed over centuries in different regions of the world was quite a unique experience. If you’re ever in the area I would suggest swinging by!
