Uncovering The Best-Kept Secrets Of Boca Raton
Whether you're just passing through or looking to get in a little R&R, the quiet town of Boca Raton has a few hidden gems that you might want to add to your itinerary. In this blog I will be uncovering the best-kept secrets of Boca Raton with everything from little-known attractions to unique shopping and the best beaches to visit for some oceanside serenity. Let's jump in and explore all the incredible things that Boca Raton has to offer!
Little-known attractions in and around town
If you’re looking for something different to do in Boca Raton, there are some lesser known attractions that will have you in awe over the fact that you had never heard of them before. One of these is the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. This amazing sanctuary offers everything from traditional tea ceremonies to bonsai exhibitions, giving visitors an insight into ancient Japanese culture. If you want to explore further outside of Boca Raton then why not take a trip out on one of the local airboats? Not only can they show you some incredible views but they also offer up close encounters with Florida wildlife! One of our favorites is the Loxahatchee Everglades Tour, which you can find here.
There's also Lion Country Safari which lies right outside of Boca Raton and is one of my top favorite attractions in the area. Upon entering, you'll get to explore over 600 acres of free-roaming exotic animals from the comfort of your own car as well as giraffe feedings, petting zoos, an adventure park and so much more! This park is well worth the trip and is perfect for spending a full day outside with the entire family.
If you're looking for some extra special photo ops during your trip, I would also suggest venturing over to check out Butterfly World. This is the first butterfly park this side of the western hemisphere and not to mention the largest in the world with over 20,000 butterflies!
The best places to eat and drink in Boca Raton
When it comes to food, Boca Raton has something for everyone. If you're looking for a romantic evening out, then head to Ouzo Bay which is located on the waterfront and offers up some delicious Greek cuisine. For some classic American fare try The Farmer's Table - they've got a great menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. And if you like Italian food then be sure to check out Trattoria Romana where their wood-fired pizzas are simply divine! Of course there are also plenty of fantastic beachside bars and restaurants that offer up fresh seafood dishes with an ocean view - perfect for those balmy evenings we all love here in the south! There's also the Barrel of Monks Brewery for the beer connoisseurs, Yokohama Sushi and Kanpai Sushi for the sushi lovers out there and Rebel House for our brunch addicts!
Unique shopping
If you're looking for unique shopping in Boca Raton, you've come to the right place! From designer boutiques and luxury department stores to quirky vintage shops and one-of-a-kind art galleries, this city has it all. The Town Center Mall is a great spot for those who want some serious retail therapy with over 200 stores. Alternatively, why not explore the quaint boutiques of Mizner Park or take a stroll down Royal Palm Place which is home to a variety of independent retailers offering up everything from handmade jewelry to bespoke clothing items. If you’re after something special then be sure to check out Palmetto Promenade – here you'll find fashionable finds that are hard to come by anywhere else!
If you want something a bit more off the beaten path, I highly recommend checking out LuBlu, a family-owned French bakery and cafe that has some of the freshest pastries and breakfast/lunch dishes in town. If you stop in you have to try their lavendar matcha latte - you WON'T be dissappointed! Next door to LuBlue there is also a lovely Russian & Ukrainian market as well where we were able to sample all sorts of Russian goods, foods, sweets and even wine. If you a culinary nerd like I am, this shop is a MUST.
The best beaches for some R&R
When it comes to beaches, Boca Raton has some of the best in Florida. Red Reef Park is a great spot for families with its calm waters and plenty of amenities like grills and picnic tables. For those looking for something a bit more lively, Spanish River Park is the place to be - here there are plenty of beach activities like volleyball as well as snack bars! If you're after an even more secluded spot then South Beach is ideal; this quiet location offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Finally, if you’re keen on snorkeling then Gumbo Limbo Nature Center should definitely be at the top of your list – here you can explore coral reefs teeming with marine life! No matter what kind of beach experience you’re after, Boca Raton has something that will suit everyone's needs.
